To Do lists
I always struggle with things to blog about. In my mind's eye there's this little fantasy of being charming and witty and... yeah, right. Usually I waffle. Sooooo...here's today's waffle for you.
Something someone said the other day made me think. It was, in the best tradition of such things, an overhear conversation. Two hoody clad teenagers moping at a table in a cafe near to me.
The conversation was mainly conducted in surly grunts but I did manage to pick up a few words here and there. Yes, I know the sulky teenager is a stereotype but, seriously, these two were as bad as it gets.
Anyway, one of them suggested something, an activity and the other one replies, 'I can't do that. I've never done it before'.
That answer stopped me in my tracks. I found that really really sad that a youngster had crippled themselves so much they wouldn't try new things simply because they'd never done them before.
For me, doing new things is exciting, a challenge to be met and an adventure all rolled into one. I have whole lists of things I want to do and every year I knock a couple of things off the list. Because of my 'to do' list I've gathered lots of interesting skills and met some fantastic people whilst doing it.
I've learnt to scuba-dive and played with octopus in the med, I've worked as a masseuse and had an entire rugby team to play with (yum!), I can build a mean corset and recently I learnt to make chain maille jewellery.
But I'm not done yet, I still have so much I want to learn. My to do list still has...
* Learn to tattoo.
* Run a half marathon.
* Learn to stitch a wound (yeah, sick I know but wouldn't it be fascinating to know how to?)
* Learn to make a wedding ring.
* Make a medieval style dress
* Make a leather corset
* Etch a glass
So, anyone else have a to do list? If you do, tell me what's on yours...

Ooo!! I can etch a glass - both by hand and with a laser engraver.
Personally, I'd like to learn to belly dance, and to pole dance. Both look like so much fun.
Great post!

Somethings I'd have to my to do list would be learn to trim dogs - those cute little dos and learning how to build my own computer. That would be cool.
That is sad, where would we be if no one tried anything different? I'd love to be able to draw, I have attempted it a few times, but it looks like a two old just scribbled on the paper, LOL!
take care,
Annette
Pole dancing is fun :D although there is a fair amount of hmm... chafing in certain areas.
And I'd love to be able to draw properly as well but it's safest for all concerned if I stick to photoshop :D
Building a pc though, that would be cool!
