*Wanders in and gets comfortable*

Ok, so it's my day to blog over here. I'm kinda new so I thought I'd start with an introduction. I'm Mina and I'm one of the newer authors over at Lyrical... *warning, shameless promo coming* ... with my first release, Moon Madness, out on Monday 17th (http://www.lyricalpress.com/moon_madness.html)

Ok, promo over, you can come out from behind that cushion there. Yes, you over at the back I can see you ;)

So, why do I write? This is a good question and one I've often asked myself at three in the morning when my characters have suddenly decided to have a wild party and are completely ignoring me. I'm kinda used to that, I have a three year old daughter so being ignored tends to happen on a semi-regular basis for me.

I'm not a very technical writer I must admit, punctuation and grammar are things I'm having to learn (and thanks to Pam, my fantastic editor, I'm learning at a rate of knots!!) so I can't blog a lot about the technical stuff about how the words go together in a way that doesn't make editors wince. What I can talk about is the writing itself. The need to get words on paper or the screen and get that story out of my head.

And that's why I write, because there are stories in my head that need to come out. I would say otherwise they'd drive me mad ;) but my hubby swears I'm already way out the other side of mad so I think I'm a lost cause there!!

I'm one of those people that a chance phrase overhear when out shopping or from the TV can spark a story. A character in a program looks at another in a certain way? Yup, my over active little imagination will weave a story around that too. I'm totally addicted to people watching and the 'what if?' game :D I also talk waaaay too much so if you're still with me - have a cookie (virtual I'm afriad)!

I write what I like to read. That's usually hot men, and strong female characters. My gals, they're not always the ball-busting types but they're not push-overs! Strange happenings, and tattooed Fae types, yup I write those too! In fact, any idea that doesn't scurry away quickly enough usually gets scooped up, analysed and a niche found to use it in (sometimes with a sledgehammer).

So, yeah, that's me in all my rambling glory. I'm here every month on the 12th (I like the 12th, it's my dad's birthday) so tune in for more randomness or catch me on my blog at http://mina-carter.com/!!

Mina-
Congrats on the release and good post. I know what you mean about the creative spark that can come from anywhere. It happens to me at the strangest of times.

Enjoyed the post, Mina. I'm another one who can get started down the path to a new story by the oddest inspirations. Music does it to me a lot, also movies and photos.
